MY PHILOSOPHY AND APPROACH
Your wedding is going to be filled with moments that reveal your love, emotion, commitment, traditions as well as the unexpected nuances that make your wedding day uniquely yours.
I use a tried and tested natural, unobtrusive, journalistic approach creating a photographic story that narrates your whole wedding day. I try to get to know you at the planning stage so your photography can be sensitive and in tune with you personal preferences. This will help me to be in the right place at the right time without you feeling that I am being intrusive. If you agree, I like to spend the whole day with you from beginning to end, it helps everyone to feel more comfortable and involved with the camera and me, your photographer. You will then have access to the broadest possible collection of images, which are spontaneous, natural and genuine in content.
In recent years, the fashionable trend has been for a reportage or photojournalism approach to weddings, with couples actually tending to skip the traditional, more formal portraits and groups. My experience over the years is that people actually appreciate the long-term value of these images, and since I am with you for the day, I might as well incorporate them into your collection as it does not have to take very long, with a bit of forward planning, so that in the future you can benefit from these important and memorable images. If you don’t choose to have them in your wedding book, then at least they are available to other members of your family as important keepsakes, should they require them. Of course, I always intersperse the main cornerstone photographs taken throughout the day with lots of natural, informal, candid images to create a pleasing balance. Since I work closely with you at the planning stage, I can advise you on what options and styles are best for you, but at the end of the day, the choice is always yours, you the client, will always have exactly what you desire.
Make no mistake, choosing your photographer is a landmark decision in your wedding planning, if you get it wrong…. well, I’m sure you can appreciate the dire consequences, so please consider carefully, all the important factors, so you ensure your wedding story is captured correctly. I’m always available to talk to you about any questions you may have, to suggest alternatives and assist with other wedding services. I’ve been in the wedding business a long time and have a very fine supplier list to call on, if you need help.
Rest assured, wedding photography is my unique speciality, and I like to feel I have a natural talent to not only capture those illusive fleeting moments, but also put you totally at ease, so you feel confident about enjoying your photography on your magical day.
WORKING WITH YOU
My goal as an artist and photographer is to work with you to create a pictorial story of your wedding day, which is totally unique to you and conforms to the statement you wish to make. Attractive, strong and vibrant portraits of the people making up your day alongside artistic detail images of the surroundings and elements all contribute to the story. But even more important is getting to know you well enough to tell the correct story in the first place.
There is no better way to achieve this than to photograph you before the wedding in the form of an engagement portrait session. It is the best opportunity to create some images that represents the real you in a location or setting that is meaningful and relevant. Then, on your wedding day, we’ve already become comfortable with each other and understand how we work together to create the best results in the eight to ten hours that I am with you. Its tried and tested, and is 100% beneficial to both of us.
Many weddings are photographed by a formula that does not necessarily reflect the true individuality of the couple. There are a lot of fine retail photographs that can do the standard shots very nicely for “packaged” weddings. However, my wedding photography is more of a personal project than a job. I only take on a limited number of weddings each season to ensure that each and every one is totally unique and truly special.
I hope you like my approach to wedding photography and please feel free to contact me if you have further questions. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
